SENEHASAKATA ARUTHAK PURAWANTA

Project at Elders Home, Horana.

Saluting elders is an important tradition in every human beings life. But in this cruel world there are certain instances that children find their parents as a burden and make them stay in an elder’s home.

Leos of Horana Metro to further enhance its humanitarian services organized a project at the elder’s Home , Horana on the 25th of January.

It was decided in the board meeting a project for elders should be done and Leo Samith brought up the idea that we should visit an elders home and stay the whole day with them. To put forward the idea some leos went to meet the administration of the Elder’s Home and decided the date as 25th of January. We got to know that there are 40 inmates staying in the elders home.

A programme starting from 3.00p.m. was prepared and leos were there on time. Lion Dr. Vajira Perera inspected the medical needs of the elders and after that the evening bodhi puja was offered to the shrine room in the elders home.

The dinner was donated by some leos and lions.almost all the leos treated the inmates as theor own mother and father. The project was an immense success as at the end of the day we all saw how happy the inmates were.

Seth Pathamu Meth Wadamu

In the Sri Lankan context whenever something is initiated it is the tradition to observe religious activities wishing for best of luck for that activity or event.
The new fiscal year of the Leo Club of Horana Metro was started with a bodhi pooja at the Vidyarathne Temple Horana on the 26th of July with the participation of 8 members.
Few days after the club installation ceremony the club members got together in a fine evening with nothing but good thoughts in their mind wishing for a good year to come by where each and every wish of the members would receive the blessings of the triple gems.
The bodhi pooja was organized not only to commemorate the start of the new fiscal year but also to remember the war heroes who gave their lives for our futures as well as to bless all family members and friends of the club members and our community.
After the religious activities were done advices were given by the Venerable Thero present there which gave all members courage and confidence for a better tomorrow starting from that day.
