Dengue fever is a disease caused by a family of viruses. It's transmitted by yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) and forest day mosquito (Asian tiger mosquito). Both mosquitoes feed exclusively during daylight hours. It occurs widely in tropical countries. Not like malaria, dengue is just as prevalent in the urban districts of its range as in rural areas. There is year-round transmission, but the rainy season increases mosquito breeding. The female mosquito lays her eggs in water containers in and around the homes, and other dwellings. These eggs will develop, become larvae, and further develop into adults in about 10 days. Dengue mosquitoes bite during the day time throughout the day. Read More |
